The Siege of Torrelobatón

In February, 1521, the army of the Comuneros, partisans of the Castilian freedoms who had risen up against Charles I of Spain, laid siege to the royalist-held castle of Torrelobatón. With six siege cannons, they bombarded and shattered its walls, forcing the defenders to surrender. Illustration created for Desperta Ferro Historia Moderna n.º 51 Castilla contra Carlos V.
